MURIEL ALLMAN BALL WEAVERVILLE - Muriel Allman Ball, age 99 of Weaverville died Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Mrs. Ball was born May 9, 1915 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was Past Matron of Vance Chapter 285 O.E.S. and Royal Matron of Smokey Mountain Court No. 22 also Past Worthy High Priestess of Carolina Shrine No. 1, and White Shrine of Jerusalem. Mrs. Ball was a longtime member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, formerly serving there as a Sunday School Teacher for an Adult Ladies Class. A daughter to the late Leroy and Etta Minnish Allman and wife of the late John Hugh Ball who died in 1978, she was also preceded in death by daughters, Marlene Terry and Loretta Ballard and sons, John Hugh Ball, Jr. and Charles Ball. Surviving are her daughter, Carlie Theola Holdredge and husband David of Asheville; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 47 great great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, in Locust Grove Baptist Church with Reverends Ben Whitmire, Chris Ballard and Gordon Ball officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
