MURPHY BUCKNER ROBERTS WEAVERVILLE - Murphy Buckner Roberts, age 102, of Jupiter Road died Sunday, December 14, 2014. Mrs. Roberts was born August 27, 1912, in Madison County to the late A.L. and Ona Lunsford Buckner. She lived in Michigan for sixty years before moving to Weaverville in 2000. Mrs. Roberts was active in Rouge Freewill Baptist Church in Michigan serving as a Sunday school teacher while there; she also attended Carson's Chapel Baptist Church. She retired from Fabricon Products after twenty- seven years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Wilburn Roberts who died in 1984; sisters, Iva Worley and Ola Norris; brothers, Glenn and Loy Buckner. Surviving are her daughter, Illa Roberts Hensel of Weaverville; brother, Wade Buckner of Marshall; grandchildren, Kimberly Rice and husband Jerry III, Kathy Meyers and husband Brad; great grandchildren, Jerry IV, Robert and Patrick Rice, Faith and Hope Meyers; great great grandchildren, Liza and Everett Rice. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends David Crowder and Dan Slader officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Flowers are welcome.
