NANCY ELIZABETH MCMINN SWAYNGIM ASHEVILLE – Nancy Elizabeth McMinn Swayngim, age 74, of Asheville, died Thursday, March 10, 2016. Mrs. Swayngim was born December 17, 1941, in Henderson County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, loved her children, grandchildren and her dogs. She was a daughter of the late James Hubert and Dorothy Sue Mehaffey McMinn and wife of the late Robert Harold Swayngim who died in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Edward Swayngim; grandson, Brian Davis; and brothers, Charlie Daniels, David, Jackie, John, and James H. McMinn, Jr. Surviving are her daughters, Cynthia Kay Swayngim, Connie Lynn McIvor, and Deborah Susan Davis; sons, Samuel Richard Swayngim, and Harold Eugene Swayngim; sister, Annie Sue Blythe; brothers, Bobby, Dennis, and Donald McMinn; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Chaplain Cindy Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the funeral home.
