WEAVERVILLE– Nellene Sluder West, age 93, of Weaverville, died Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Nellene was born August 31, 1924 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She enjoyed working in her yard. Nellene’s life revolved around family, specifically her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Weaverville United Methodist Church. She was the wife of the late Marshall J. “Buster” West who died in 1990. Also preceding her in death are her parents, James Ervin and Ethel Roberts Sluder; daughter, Marsha West Mechanic; brothers, Leonard, Harold, Charles and Joe Sluder.
Surviving are her daughters, Jerri West Davis, Sheila West Respass, and Jackie West Fox and husband Darryl, all of Weaverville; grandchildren, Jennifer Slone and husband Daron, Jeff Davis and fiance’ Leann Cheek, Jonathan Davis and wife Callie, Paige Fox Gibson and husband Hunter, Dylan Fox, Heath Pike, Ross Pike, and Westley Respass; great grandchildren, Lindsey and Adam Slone, Rohnan, Carson and Riley Davis, and Ava Pike.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave. Weaverville. Rev. Worth Emory will officiate. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the funeral home.
