Nellie Lunsford Bell

WEAVERVILLE– Nellie Lunsford Bell, age 92, of Weaverville, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

She was born on May 28, 1931, in Madison County to the late Carl and Roxie Meadows Lunsford. And was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life.

She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Rathbone (J.R.) and Melissa B. Bailey; a son, Dennis Bell (Peggy); brothers Carl Lunsford, Jr. and Ralph Lunsford (Frances); grandchildren, J. C. Bell and Dennis Ray Bell (Jackie); great grandchildren, Tehya and Haylee Bell, Carly Rose Reynolds (Nathaniel), Kaden, Trevan and Austin; great great grandchildren Cameron, Hunter, and Maile.

She loved to garden, can, cook and quilt. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, J. Clifford Bell who she was married to for 58 years; sister, Jewel Rogers and brothers, Ted, Bobby and Herbert Lunsford.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Salem United Methodist Church with Reverend Drew Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at West Funeral Home, Weaverville.
