Norma Wild Shelton Rogers

WEAVERVILLE—Norma Lucille Wild Shelton Rogers, age 92, of 51 Dula Springs Road, Weaverville celebrated her birthday by receiving her glorified body on Monday, November 12, 2007. Her family surrounded her as she began her celebration. Norma was born November 12, 1915 in the Big Pine Valley of Madison County, a daughter of the late Claude Jacob and Katie Katherine Wild. She was "Granny" to all who met her and a true example of a God fearing and virtuous women. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Wilson Shelton and Rev. Walter Rogers and her daughter, Shirley Shelton Smith, three brothers and two sisters. Left to treasure her memory and love are her daughter and son-in-law; Pansy Jean Shelton and John L. Goforth; son-in-law, Elbert "Jack" Smith; sisters, Mae Baker and Helen Faulkner; her beloved eight grandchildren, John, Charles and Roger Goforth, Donna Goforth Bolewitz, Catherine Smith Roberts, Mike Smith, Shannon Smith Cartrett and Michelle Smith Galyean; seventeen great grandchildren, Jace, Jett, Nicholas, Jonathan, Carly, DeWayne, Elisabeth, Caleb, Jake, Chris, Anna, Emily, Kathryn, Katlyn, Jackie, Joseph, Benjamin and great great granddaughters Mikayla Dawn and Kaitlyn Grace. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. November 14, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Rev. Jack Smith and Rev. Gary Fender officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
