Ola Mae Haynie Burrell, age 87, of 915 Clark's Chapel Road, went home to be with her Lord Friday, March 6, 2015 in Madison Health & Rehab after a long period of declining health.
Mrs. Burrell was born September 25, 1927 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She formerly worked at Imperial Life, Western-Southern and retired from Metropolitan Life. She also volunteered for North Buncombe Samaritan Ministries for ten years and was a long time member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where she had previously served as church clerk. She had also served on the nominating, finance, and pastor search committees and taught Sunday School for many years. She was the daughter of the late S. Weldon and Mary Walton Haynie.
Surviving are her daughter, Evelyn Ponder and husband Harry Dale of Weaverville.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend George Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in Haynie Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1:45 to 2:45 p.m., prior to her service.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Harry Dale and Evelyn Ponder.
