PARKS B. BANKS BARNARDSVILLE/ HOMESTEAD, FL – Parks B. Banks, age 84, of Barnardsville and Homestead, FL, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Florida. Mr. Banks was born October 6, 1932 in Buncombe County to the late Ed and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Scott Banks. He was a nurseryman, farmer and landlord. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Scott, Frazier and Mack Banks; and sisters, Joyce Banks and Leora Shope. Surviving are his wife Carol Simmons Banks; step-daughters, Jackie Payne of Port Orchard, WA, Carrie Noatch of Cleburne, TX; step-sons, Hershel Coger of Little Torch Key, FL, Jessie Coger, of Tampa, FL, Carl Coger of Georgia; brothers, Blaine Banks of Barnardsville, Fred Banks of Midway, TN; 11 step grandchildren, and 14 step great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Larry Coates officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the funeral home.
