Pastor Gordon Howard Powlison

WEAVERVILLE—Pastor Gordon Howard Powlison (June 28, 1945—January 13, 2013) went to be with the Lord peacefully Sunday morning with loving family present. Pastor Gordon spent his adult life in grateful service to the Lord Jesus Christ. His children and grandchildren attest to his example of faith and self-denial for the kingdom of God. He placed others before himself, often at great personal cost. He ministered to the few who ministered to the many. Pastor Gordon is survived by his wife, Linda and five children: Deborah Powlison, Amy Courtney and her husband Michael, Emmy L'Heureux and her husband Nathanael, Michael Powlison and his wife Sarah, Justin Powlison and his wife Rebecca. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Ya'el, Micaiah, Elya, Joseph, Elijah, Joshua, Angelina, Kaleb, Samantha, Noah, Gabriel, Sarah, and an unborn grandson whose name Pastor Gordon alone was told before his passing. His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at Carolina Lighthouse Ministries, 38 Trinity Hills Drive, Weaverville. Private graveside services will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
