PATTY ANN HOOKER COCHRAN
WEAVERVILLE – Patty Ann Hooker Cochran, age 77 of Weaverville went to her heavenly home Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
Patty was a loving and devoted wife for over 56 years to Claude Cochran. She was gifted in music, playing the piano and accordion. Patty previously sang with the Sweet Adelines, was a published poet and danced with several different clogging teams. She had a passion to serve others and did so as a Red Cross Disaster Relief Volunteer, foster grandparent, substitute teacher, private tutor and clown ministry. Patty was a local torch bearer for the 1996 Summer Olympics and was an avid fan of Duke Basketball.
A native of Winston Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Alma Davis Hooker. She is also preceded in death by a son, Randal Cochran; and brother, Ralph F. Hooker, Jr.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Jan Blakely and husband John of Weaverville; son, Ronny Cochran, of Bedford, VA; sister, Jackie Morefield and husband Pete of Winston Salem; sister in law, Mildred Hooker of Asheville; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Keith Watkins and Jim Moore officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
