BARNARDSVILLE– Paul J. Buckner, age 83, of Barnardsville died Friday, August 11, 2017.
Mr. Buckner was born October 11, 1933 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. Paul liked to fish and hunt, spending time outdoors; and he enjoyed NASCAR racing. He retired from Buncombe County as a heavy equipment operator and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Son of the late, Harry Buckner and Pauline Banks Yount; he was also preceded in death by his sons, Doug and Roger Buckner and brothers, Tommy and Nicky Buckner.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Helen Miller Buckner; daughter, Sharon Cox; son, Danny Buckner and wife Donna; sisters, Wanda Stewart, Linda Burleson, Sue Buckner, Margaret White and Jean Niles; brothers, Wesley Yount and George, Mike and Van Buckner; special sister-in-law, Marcy Buckner; grandchildren, Heather, Steven, Melanie, Travis, Amy, Ashley, Brandon and Josh; twelve great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverend John Coffey officiating. Burial will be in Thomas F. Dillingham Cemetery, Barnardsville.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
At other times they will be at the residence.
