FAIRVIEW – Paul Ray Mount age 85, of Fairview, died Sunday June 18, 2017.
Mr. Mount was born November 21, 1931 in Knox County, TN to the late Fred and Ethel Miller Mount; he was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. Paul worked in construction as a grading contractor for over 68 years. He was also the local owner/operator of Paul Mount Racing, having won 288 stock car races with several area drivers. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the US Army Calvary. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Fred Mount and N.B. Mount.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Wanda Roberts Mount; sons, Barry Mount and David Mount and wife Jeannette all of Fairview; step-daughter, Candy Duckworth and husband Greg of Charlotte, step-son, William Robinson and wife Donna of Weaverville, seven grandchildren which includes special granddaughter, Bailey; and three great grandchildren.
His memorial graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, June 23, 2017, in the Chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by NC National Guard Honor Guard.
