Pauline Corn Herron

PAULINE “POLLY” CORN HERRON WEAVERVILLE – Pauline “Polly” Corn Herron, age 99, of 98 Eller Cove Road died Friday, July 8, 2016. Mrs. Herron was born April 14, 1917 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a retired Nursing Assistant. Polly was a fabulous shape note singer, autoharp and banjo player. She also worked on the family farm while growing her garden and enjoyed cooking, family meals, dining out, and the beach. Polly was a member of Pleasant Grove Union Church. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Jesse W. Corn and Martha Elizabeth Hensley Corn and wife of 70 years to the late Lawrence B. Herron who died in 2007. Mrs. Herron was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 7 siblings. Surviving are her daughters, Ruth Herron Taylor and husband Harold of Berea, KY, and Madge Herron Tesner of Asheville; sons, David Herron and wife Judy of Asheville, Larry Herron and wife Joan, Gerald “Jerry” Herron, and Anthony “Tony” Herron and wife Linda, all of Weaverville; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Mark Chase officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to her service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
