Pauline Stines Ledford

ASHEVILLE—Pauline Stines Ledford, age 88, of 112 N. Ridge Dr., died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mrs. Ledford was born February 11, 1921, in the East Fork Community of Madison County but spent most of her life in Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Bernice Peek Stines. Also preceding her in death were an infant daughter and one brother, Harvey Worth Stines. "Polly," as she was known by her friends, family and coworkers, began her years in the banking world at Citizen Bank in Marshall after graduating from Cecil's Business College. She worked for many years at and retired from Wachovia Bank in Asheville and later worked at JC Bradford Stock Brokerage Company. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her generosity. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, George W. Ledford; one niece, Sonya Batriz, and numerous cousins. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009, in West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Joe David Fore officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Memorial Park, 415 Beaverdam Rd., Asheville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
