Pearl Louise Pegg Phillips

PEARL LOUISE PEGG PHILIPS WEAVERVILLE - Pearl Louise Pegg Phillips, age 92 of Weaverville died Wednesday, October 7, 2015. Mrs. Phillips was born September 9, 1923 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. The early years of her life were defined by her support of her husband Roy Phillips and his enlistment and service during World War II. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and was a founding member of the North Buncombe Home Extension. She served as a church secretary for 70 years, prepared food for the senior citizens luncheon until the age of 88, and served her community in countless other activities. She lovingly provided for her family in so many ways including holiday gatherings and annual family reunions. She was always willing to impart her knowledge, guidance, and unwavering support. For this her family and friends will always be grateful. Preceding her in death are her parents Garrett and Tilda Roberts Pegg; husband Roy Phillips who died in 1999; brothers, Leon and Clarence Pegg and three infant brothers. Surviving are her daughter, Lynda Keith and husband Bill; son, Rick Phillips and wife Margaret; sisters, Mae Mullinax and Jo Ann Ingle; grandchildren, Rev. Wil Keith and wife Amanda, Amy McAfee and husband Lewis, Joseph Phillips and wife Keisha, Jennifer Phillips, Cody Phillips; great grandchildren, Lilly and Willow Keith. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
