PEGGY SLUDER BROWN WEAVERVILLE - Peggy Sluder Brown, age 85, of 26 Salem Road, died Saturday, February 1, 2014. Mrs. Brown was born October 23, 1928, in Buncombe County to the late David and Ellen Warlick Sluder. She was an avid reader, bowled and worked crossword puzzles. Mrs. Brown was a member of First Baptist Church, Weaverville, where she was involved in Sunday school, Bible Study, a Circle, and Vacation Bible School. Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Buckner and brother, Jack Sluder. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Obie H. Brown; children, Daryl Brown and wife Dolores of Newberry, SC, Lisa Davis and husband Ray of Asheville, Dana Brown of the home, and Dale Brown and wife Michelle of Fairview; grandchildren, Drew Brown and wife Lisa, Kevin Davis and wife Bailey, Sean Davis, Corey Brown, Shelby Brown; and great grandsons, Dylan Davis, and Ethan and Owen Brown. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Bldg. 1, Asheville, NC 28801 or to First Baptist Church, Weaverville, P.O. Box 547, Weaverville, NC 28787.
