Phillip Wayne Higgins

WEAVERVILLE – Phillip Wayne Higgins, born April 25, 1947, passed away on August 14, 2024. He was 77 years old.

Phillip was born in Yancey County, NC to the late Dewey Admiral Higgins and Mary Proffitt Higgins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jane Jones Higgins, who died in 2022. He was also preceded in death by his son, Justin Higgins, who died in June 2024.

Phillip is survived by his daughter, Jordan Higgins; his son Phillip Higgins, Jr.; and his sister-in-law, Shelby Shelton.

He was the owner and operator of Phil Higgins Contracting in Weaverville.

His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Eric Dimsdale will officiate.
