WEAVERVILLE/GREENEVILLE, TN - Phyllis Gores Honeycutt age 74, of 43 E. Ridgefield Court, Greeneville, TN died Sunday, September 28, 2014.
Phyllis was born December 11, 1940 in Weaverville and was a resident of Greeneville, TN since 1994. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and attended Western Carolina, UNCA and Appalachian State. For over thirty years she taught in Buncombe County Schools and later worked for Farm Bureau as a curriculum consultant. She was a member of the Appalachian Consortium for twenty years and a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Buckner Gores and a brother, Robert Gores.
Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Kenneth L. Honeycutt; sons, Jammie Hollifield and wife Kimberly of Asheville and Lane Hollifield of Tusculum, TN; stepson, Jeff Honeycutt and wife Rhonda of Marshall; sisters, Pat Gores and Betty Buckner and husband Ricky all of Weaverville; step-granddaughter, Katie Honeycutt; nephews, Danny Gores and Alan Buckner and niece Melissa Buckner.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Rev.'s Sarah Emmerich and Natalie Justice officiating. Burial will be in Boyd's Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
