R. MARSHALL FIELDS
WEAVERVILLE - R. Marshall Fields, age 65, of Weaverville died unexpectedly at his home on January 4, 2015.
Mr. Fields was born September 29, 1949 to the late Roy Walter and Annie Sue Addison Fields. Marshall had been a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, graduating from Enka High School and AB-Tech. A Licensed Professional Engineer, he began his career at Six Associates and later became a principal with CJMW Architecture where he retired after 41 years. Mr. Fields was a member of American Society of Civil Engineers and incoming Treasurer for Asheville Storytelling Circle, a devout Christian of the Baptist denomination he loved gardening and working with his hands.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years Deborah Young Fields; sons, Graham Redman Fields and wife Leslie of Fletcher, Clark Andrew Fields and wife Amanda of Weaverville; sister, Wanda Summey and husband Bill of Candler; brother, Larry Fields and wife Susan of Orangeburg, SC; grandson, Alexander Redman Fields; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Young; sisters-in-law Fern Bray and husband Tony, Pam Hughes and husband John; brother-in-law, Matt Young and Kimberly Fyfe; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Scott Shields officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
