Ray "Bert" Ingle

ASHEVILLE – Ray Bert Ingle, age 74, of Asheville passed away, Friday, December 10, 2021, in the presence of his loving wife.

Ray Bert was born January 15, 1947, to the late Horace Waverly Ingle and Edith Ballard Ingle. He graduated in 1965 from North Buncombe High School. Ray Bert was a truck driver for many years and self-employed with his own lawn care business. He loved to do woodwork and was becoming very talented, planning his next project up until he was called home. A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Asheville, he helped and constructed many props for vacation bible school.

Even though he had many health problems, he never complained. He was always happy to talk with others and offer his help if needed. Ray Bert made many friends along the way at church, with neighbors or strangers; and his favorite breakfast place was Grannys!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rhea Allene Presley, Ruth Ellen Hunter and Doris Marie Plemmons and brother, Ronald Waverly Ingle.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Linda Smith Ingle. Also, many nieces and nephews on the Ingle side and the Smith side; all loved and cherished by Uncle Bert.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Dr. Buddy Corbin will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021, prior to the funeral.
