WEAVERVILLE – Reba Stewart Anders, age 83, passed away in the early hours on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at John F. Keever Solace Center after a short illness.
Reba was born July 9, 1934 and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was the second of two children of the late Bales Alexander and Verlin Mae Johnson. Reba retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation after 33 years. A devout Christian, she enjoyed her church and friends throughout the community. Reba was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church and a past member of Celebration Church and First Baptist Church, Weaverville. She enjoyed travel and was a devoted fan of UNC basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball.
In addition to her parents, Reba was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Stewart and her husband, Charles N. Anders who died in 2002; and to who’s memory she remained devoted for the rest of her life.
Surviving are seven nephews; eight nieces; and extended great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Reba’s funeral will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 3, 2018, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. Reverend Bart Hildreth, Senior Pastor of First Saint Charles United Methodist Church in Saint Charles, Missouri will officiate with Reverend Wes Pike, Associate Pastor of Newbridge Baptist Church and Betty Hughes will provide the eulogy. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the funeral home.
