WEAVERVILLE—Rev. Fred B. Jarvis, age 97, of 18 Alexander Road, died Friday, November 5, 2010. Rev. Jarvis was born May 22, 1913, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was ordained in 1958 and was the former Pastor of several churches in Buncombe County. He was a member of Woodland Hills Church and the Vance Masonic Lodge #293 AF and AM. Fred enjoyed his fellowship with all those attending at the Weaverville meal site at First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sally Metcalf Jarvis, his wife, Elizabeth Hensley Jarvis who died in 1994, as well as five brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his daughters, Joyce Tucker and husband Sam of Weaverville, Patsy Chiavaras and husband Chuck, Carolyn Hensley and husband Harlon both of Asheville; sister in law Madge Jarvis of Barnardsville; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Bob Belford, Bobby Robinson and Jim McCoy officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Vance Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, at West Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Joyce Tucker, 22 Alexander Road, Weaverville. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
