REX DUYCK
WEAVERVILLE - Rex Duyck, age 83, of 44 Evening Mist Road, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, January 10, 2015.
Mr. Duyck was born November 29, 1931 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a retired roofer who enjoyed hunting and finding ginseng. Rex was a member and Deacon for over 50 years at Paint Fork Missionary Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Lattie and Enoch Harwood Duyck and husband of the late Evelyn Vireen Dillingham Duyck who died in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Edith White and Margaret Duyck; and a brother, Jerry Duyck.
Surviving are his daughters, Sharon D. Palmer of Dahlonega, GA, and Wanda D. Crowder of Weaverville; son, Larry Dean Duyck of Weaverville; brothers, Rev. Eugene Duyck of Barnardsville and Rev. Charles Duyck of Old Fort; six grandchildren, Shuny Rogers, Shad Rogers, Shane Rogers, Bridget Crowder, Larry Duyck, and Jerry Duyck; and seven great grandchildren, Nathaniel Rogers, Nicholas Davis, Chase Millsaps, Evan Rogers, Blayze Harwood, Curtis Duyck, and Christian Harwood.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Paint Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Barnardsville with Rev. Shane Lunsford officiating. Burial will be in Paint Fork Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave. Weaverville, where his body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to his service.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
