Richard William King

ASHEVILLE – Richard William King, Sr. passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Solace Hospice Center, surrounded by family.

Mr. King was born March 6, 1942 in Buncombe County, where he resided all of his life. He was the son of the late Ralph and Harriett Bullman King.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene King; son-in-law, Andrew Straight; and daughter-in-law, Tracie King.

Mr. King was a lifelong member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, from the time that it was a log cabin.  He loved spending time with family, and being at the lake and fishing.  He adored his fur babies, Cupcake, Baby Girl, and Daisy.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Edna Marie King; children, Carolina Straight, Richard William King, Jr., and Jeremy Patrick King; sister, Elaine Kiser; brother, Lonnie King and wife Dottie; grandchildren, Ashley Church and husband Jeffrey, Amanda McDaniel and husband Joey, Sierra Baldwin and husband Stuart, and Jeremy King II; great-grandchildren, Reese and Riley Church; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. King will be laid to rest at Sky View Memorial Park in a private family graveside service.  The family will gather at Beverly Hills Baptist Church for fellowship on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 3:30pm.
