RICK BALL
BARNARDSVILLE—Rick Ball, age 52, of 120 Wild Mountain Lane, died March 31, 2009.
Rick was born August 29, 1956, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years. Rick was an employee at Haynes Electric for 17 years and was superintendent for the past 8 years. He loved the outdoors, specifically camping and fishing with his buddy, Tony Clinton. Rick was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, worked on mission projects, Bible camp and was a musician. He was the son of Grace Harwood Ball of Barnardsville and the late Frank Ball. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Ball.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Melina Hensley Ball; sons, Rick Ball, Jr., and wife Kristi of Leicester, Chris Ball and wife Renee of Weaverville, Mark "Chub" Ball and wife April of Barnardsville, and Jonathan Ball of the home; brothers, Pete Ball and wife Kim of Barnardsville, David Ball of Alexander, and Duck Ball of Barnardsville; grandchildren, Zoey, Paige, Zeke, Hunter, Tucker, and Gunner; sister-in-law, Linda Harwood of Barnardsville; nephew, Gene Ball and wife Amanda of Barnardsville, and their son Zachary of Barnardsville; and a special friend, Rick Arrington.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in Lighthouse Baptist Church, 96 Martin's Creek Rd., Barnardsville, with Rev. Nelson Ponder and Rev. Roy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Webb Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the services.
At other times the family will be at the residence.
