Robert E. Greene

BARNARDSVILLE—Robert E. Greene, age 70 of 497 Paint Fork Road died Saturday, September 1, 2012. Robert was born March 2, 1942 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was the son of the late John Greene and Marie Carter Greene Crowder and was also preceded in death by sisters, Easter Plemmons, Betty Powers and Mary Ruth Hamilton and brother, Lawrence Greene. Robert lived to help and serve friends, family and neighbors in their time of need, no matter what the task. Surviving are his wife Darlene White Greene; daughters, Teresa Campbell and husband John and Sonya Webb and husband Chris all of Barnardsville; sons, Dewayne Greene and wife Stephanie of Barnardsville and Jonathan Greene of Weaverville; sisters, Mae Long, Bobbie McLean, Johnnie Parker and Ellen Pike and husband Elbert all of Asheville, Margaret Lloyd and husband Jack of Ocala, FL and Martha Cooper and Anne Garrett and husband Jim all of Fairfax, VA; brother, Charles Greene and wife Aileen of Asheville; sister-in-law, Melba Greene of MS; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Greene's service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Revs. Larry Coates and Shane Lunsford officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Dewayne and Stephanie Greene, 491 Paint Fork Rd., Barnardsville.
