WEAVERVILLE—Robert F. Johnston, Jr., age 76, of Jupiter Road, died Thursday, January 24, 2013.
Mr. Johnston was born September 10, 1936, in Waynesburg, Pa., and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1975. He retired from the US Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a son of the late Robert F. Johnston, Sr., and Caroline Swenson Johnston.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Patricia Fore Johnston; daughter, Tanya Turner and husband Jason of Wolf Laurel; sons, Robert F. Johnston, III, and Harley Johnston, both of Weaverville; sister, Mary Louise Braden of Carmichaels, Pa.; brother, Charles W. Johnston of Biloxi, Miss.; grandchildren, Michael Ramsey, Taylor Turner, Brent Turner, and Haley Johnston.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Trinity Baptist Church, with Revs. Allen Rash and Donnie Walker officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery with military graveside rites
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
