WEAVERVILLE– Robert Steven Keefer, Jr., 47, died, Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the John F. Keever Solace Center, in Asheville, NC.
Steve is survived by his parents, Robert Steven Keefer, Sr., and Cynthia McConnell Keefer; sister, Tamara Lee Thomas and husband Brigham Stephen Thomas; nephews, Petty Officer C. Brendan Scott and wife, Alexis of Port Hueneme, CA; M. Hunter Thomas and niece, Maddison Lee Thomas, both of Weaverville; great niece, Sofia Scott and great nephew, Parker Scott; and his Grandgwenny, Gwendolyn Lee Keefer of El Paso, TX.
Born July 16, 1970, at Fort Wolters Army Hospital in Mineral Wells, Texas; Steve grew up in Centreville, Virginia, and was a 1988 graduate of Chantilly High School. In the early 1990’s, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso and then relocated to Denver, CO, where he worked as a trainer/educator for Taco Bell. From Denver to San Diego, he continued in the restaurant business and studied finance and accounting at the University of Phoenix.
Steve was an avid social media communicator where his friends and family regale him for his entertaining sense of humor, story-telling (no one was safe), and quick-witted repartee. With his easy demeanor and winning personality, he was beloved by everyone who knew him. His love of his cat family is legendary among his friends and family—Minogue, Kylie, and Farrah are left behind with his family. His main caregiver, sister Tamee, and Steve maintained their sarcastic, teasing, loving relationship throughout his care. We are all the losers — this perfectly charming, classy, handsome, gentle man will be remembered and loved forever.
A private inurnment will be held by the waterfall at West Memorial Park, Weaverville, NC.
