WEAVERVILLE—Robert Carlton Kemp, age 85, of 39 Pegg Rd., died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, with his family by his side.
Mr. Kemp was born May 4, 1927, in Shady Dale, Ga., and was a resident of Weaverville since 1963. He was a graduate of Madison High School in Georgia and the University of Georgia in Athens. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Kemp was the former co-owner and pharmacist at Weaverville Drug Co. from 1963 to 1993. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.D. and Lurline Rigdon Kemp; daughter, Karen Marie Kemp; and sister, Frances Kemp Orr.
Surviving are his grandson, Brandon Greene and wife Erin Greene of the home; great grandson, Jacob Carlton Greene; and sister, Shirley Kemp Little and husband Bill and family of Carnesville, Ga.
His graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012, in West Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Ramsey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
