ASHEVILLE – Ronald David “Ronnie” Banks, age 62, of 56 Sunnyview Terrace, Asheville, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017.
Mr. Banks was born April 30, 1955 in Buncombe County, where he lived all of his life. He was the son of Mildred Gibson Banks of Asheville and the late Paul William Banks. Ronnie attended AB Tech for electrical engineering and was a carpenter with Shipman Enterprises, LLC. He was known for his brilliant knowledge of just about anything; along with his giving spirit and love for his family. He attended and helped build New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his sisters, Gloria Brank and husband Mark of Weaverville and Cathy Davidson and husband Harold of Alexander; nieces, Christina Scruggs and husband Stan of Monroe, and Angela Shiflet and husband Dustin of Alexander; four great nephews, Hampton David Scruggs, Bolton Riley Scruggs, Larson Hughes Scruggs and Samuel Dustin Shiflet; one great niece, Catherine Rose Shiflet.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Larry Coates and Reverend Lawrence Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
