RONALD "RON" A. HARWOOD WEAVERVILLE - Ronald "Ron" A. Harwood, age 70 of Weaverville went to be with his Lord Friday, August 14, 2015 at the NC State Veterans Home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Harwood was born March 1, 1945 in Buncombe County to the late Aaron C. and Ruby B. Crabtree Harwood. He was a retired deputy from the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his daughters, Beth Weavil, and Angela Hall; brothers Leonard Harwood and wife Jean, Mel Harwood and wife Dora; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Steve Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
