THOMAS RONALD "RONNIE" BISHOP WEAVERVILLE - Thomas Ronald "Ronnie" Bishop, age 70 of Herron Cove Road went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 23, 2015. Mr. Bishop was born November 7, 1944 in Buncombe County to the late Thomas Jackson and Edith Rogers Bishop. He was a life-long resident of Weaverville and was the owner and operator of Asheville Upholstery. An avid Blackhawk football supporter, Ronnie had only missed two football games since his graduation from North Buncombe High School in 1963. He was very involved with the North Buncombe Youth League, coaching football and baseball and had also served as the Youth League Commissioner. He loved tending his herd of cattle and enjoyed talking to people, joking and telling stories and being part of the community. Ronnie lived life according to his own standards. He was kind hearted and generous and would help anyone. He loved his family and friends. Surviving are his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years Brenda McCarter Bishop; sons, Andy Bishop, Heath Bishop and wife Lisa, Todd Bishop; sisters, Deanna Bishop Webb and husband Jack, Janice Dillingham and husband Jerry, Sandra Bishop Ray; grandchildren, A.J. and Gracie. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, in First Baptist Church, Weaverville, with Reverends Jim McCoy and Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
