ROSE ELLYS EDWARDS SWANNANOA- Rose Ellys Edwards, age 90, of Bee Tree Road died Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Miss Edwards was born October 26, 1923 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a graduate of Asheville Normal College. Miss Edwards was a school teacher at Red Oak Elementary, Weaverville Elementary, and retired from Black Mountain Elementary. She was also active in The Welcome Table at Swannanoa United Methodist Church. Rose was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Rosa Holcombe Edwards. She was preceded in death by sisters, Joy Edwards and Nesta E. DeBruhl and brother, Robert B. Edwards. Surviving is her nephew, Bruce Debruhl of Swannanoa. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Reverend Cindy Arnold officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Welcome Table, Swannanoa United Methodist Church, 216 Whitson Ave, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
