Rose Marie Gerdon Miller

WEAVERVILLE– Rose Marie Gerdon Miller, age 96, of Weaverville, graduated to heaven, Saturday, July 14, 2018. Rose was born August 30, 1921 in Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa to the late Charles S. and Myrl McFatridge Gerdon. She taught herself to work on her computer at age 70. Rose worked mainly as a church secretary and was very well organized. She maintained family records and kept up with birthdays of all family members. Rose admired watching wildlife, and loved her two dogs. She loved to play Skip-Bo. She was a prayer warrior, a true friend and an avid reader. Her favorite book was the Bible. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 76 ½ years, Ross J. Miller, who died February 18, 2018; and her sister, Mary Hayes. Surviving are her son, Harvey C. Miller and wife Blanca; sister-in-law, Ruth Payne; nephews, Bill Payne and wife Suzanne, Doug Steel and wife Deb, Edwin Wright, Clyde Hayes and wife Peggy, Oscar Hayes and wife Judy; nieces, Ellen Schoo and husband Dave, Beverly Miller-Price and husband Donald, Ruth Ghindea and husband John, Cindy Parker and husband Del, and Joyce Davis; grandchildren, Angie Miller, Debbie Miller, Jim Miller and wife Liz, Michael Miller and wife Dorothy, Keith Miller and wife Penny, David Andrade and wife Jeanette, Omar Andrade and wife Linda; 12 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday July 20, 2018 in Asheville First Church of the Nazarene, where she was an active member for over 31 years. Pastors Andrew Crimmins, James Staggs and Harry Widener will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, NC 28787.
