WEAVERVILLE—Ruby Lee Gambill Boone, age 79, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2010.
She was born January 31, 1931, in Madison County. Ruby was the daughter of the late Edd and Ollie Coates. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Walter James Gambill, Jr., who died in 1997; a sister, Shelby Jean Ackerman; brothers, Claude Richard and James Hershel; and two half sisters, Arnon Dupee and Magdella Rhymer.
Ruby spent much of her time in real estate and in later years got her degree in nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. Ruby was a member of Celebration Church in Weaverville.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Boone of Weaverville; sisters, Helen Worley and husband Kenneth of Asheville, Wilma Hughes and husband J.D. of Oteen; brothers, E.J. and wife Genevieve of Marshall, Ray Donald and wife Jane of Fletcher; sister-in-laws, Virginia Coates of Marshall and Cynthia Coates of Enka; brother-in-law, John Ackerman of Hixon, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2010, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. Tom Lomax and Jeff Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
