RUBY NELL MYERS HOLCOMBE WEAVERVILLE - Ruby Nell Myers Holcombe, age 95 passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Brian Center, Weaverville. Mrs. Holcombe was born January 15, 1920 in McDowell County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron. She enjoyed quilting and crafts, especially making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Ruby will always be remembered for the delicious meals she prepared for the many visitors to her home. She was the daughter of the late Annie McCollouch Myers and Hershel Myers, Sr. Also preceding her in death were her husband of 55 years Joe Brad Holcombe, who died in 1998; brothers, Hershel Myers, Jr., and Robert Myers. Surviving are her children, R.B. Holcombe of Asheville, Patricia Greene and husband Larry of Marshall, and Larry Holcombe and wife Brenda of Hendersonville; special sisters-in-law, Helen Coleman of Canton, and Evelyn Myers of Old Fort; special niece, Jackie Bohanan and husband Jim of Annapolis, MD. A private service was held on Friday, November 13, 2015 in the mausoleum at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. West Funeral Home, Weaverville assisted the family. The family would like to thank Brian Center in Weaverville for their loving care of our mother during her stay there. All of the Brian Center staff gave "Miss Ruby" a tremendous amount of love and care.
