Sandy Walker Kendall, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world on December 19, 2024, in her home of Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was born on April 23, 1951, and spent much of her life surrounded by the beauty of her home state.
Sandy was a woman of many talents and passions. Her hands were seldom still; whether it was cultivating vibrant blooms in her garden, creating beautiful crafts, painting, or meticulously quilting, her creativity knew no bounds. The outdoors was her sanctuary, where she found joy and peace, often losing herself in the embrace of nature. Sandy relished the warm sun on her face and the sound of water, drawing inspiration from the world around her.
Her love for leisure was just as diverse. She loved thrilling sci-fi adventures and intricate crime dramas. An unexpected joy was building with legos, which ignited her imagination and sparked laughter among her family.
Sandy's life was rooted in love and family. She is the cherished wife of Andrew Kendall, with whom she shared 38 wonderful years of companionship and partnership. Their bond was a testament to the power of love and devotion. Sandy was a proud mother to her daughter, Marsha Stines and husband Wayne; and son, John Caldwell and wife Sherri. She was thrilled to see her family grow, taking immense pride in her granddaughter, Savannah Caldwell, and grandson, J.T. Rogers. Sandy's heart expanded further with the addition of several great-grandchildren who filled her with unmatched joy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late mother, Charlotte Tate Walker, and siblings, Ron Walker and Janice Robinson, who shaped her early years. Their memory lived on in her stories and the lessons she imparted to her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Monday, December 23, 2024, at West Family Funeral Services in Weaverville, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Jamerson officiating. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to gather, sharing stories and reminiscences from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sandy's warmth and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love, creativity, and resilience will continue to inspire generations to come.
