Sgt. Richard M. "Richie" Lancaster, II

WEAVERVILLE – Sgt. Richard M. “Richie” Lancaster, II, age 50, died Sunday, February 18, 2024.

Richie was born March 2, 1973, in Richland, SC and grew up in Columbia, SC. He later moved to Winston Salem where he graduated from Mt. Tabor High School, class of 1991. He was a fire fighter in Winston Salem. After moving to Asheville, he attended A B Tech to become a paramedic and worked in Buncombe County. He later attended N.C. State Highway Patrol 109^th basic training class in Raleigh. Richie had just retired from the patrol after 20 years. His career as a patrol was in Madison County, followed by Buncombe then as a Sgt. with Troop G District I in Burnsville. He currently was a partner in X-Caliber CrossFit. Richie loved to kayak, scuba dive, and recently received his private investigator license. He was a member of the F.O.P. and a member of the Vance Masonic Lodge # 293 AF & AM.

Surviving is his wife, Virginia Allison Lancaster; parents, Richard M. “Dickie” Lancaster and Vera Argoe Minton; step-daughter, Fallon White; sister, Wendi M. Arrowood and husband Marty; niece, Parker Goldflam; nephew, Lexus McKesson; step-niece, Kaylee Arrowood and step-nephews, Garrett and Gavin Arrowood.

His funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Brookstone Church, 90 Griffee Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. Chaplain Darin Jackson will officiate.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, NC 28787.
