WEAVERVILLE—Sharon Marie Fuchs, age 57, of Weaverville, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born November 24, 1954, in Neenah, Wis. She enlisted out of high school in the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. She graduated from UNCA with a degree in meteorology and retired as a meteorologist with the Air Force Combat Climatology Center. She loved her family, friends, and making people laugh. An avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, she also had a passion for astronomy. She was the daughter of Audrey Fuchs of Neenah, Wis., and the late Joseph John Fuchs. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dave Fuchs, infant brother, Billy, and infant sister, Lori.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughter, Jessica Fowler and husband John of Weaverville; son, Paul Fender and wife Cheryl of Weaverville; twin sister, Karen Beyer of Neenah, Wis.; sister-in-law, Maryanne Fuchs of Michigan; grandchildren, David King, Arabella Cody, Andrea Torres, Dakota Fowler, and Xyanthia Fowler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Pat Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, at noon on Friday.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sharon's honor to Compassion International, Colorado Springs, CO 80997, a Christian child advocacy ministry that Sharon passionately supported for many years; or CarePartners Hospice Foundation, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
