SHARON LYNN STEWART WEAVERVILLE - Sharon Lynn Stewart died Sunday, October 27, 2013. Mrs. Stewart was born April 7, 1951 in Buncombe County. She retired from the Buncombe County Sheriff's department in 2006, after 20 years of serving under 4 different Sheriffs, as the property clerk and secretary to the Sheriff. Sharon was the daughter of the late Phillip and Sara Lawter McMahan. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, George Stewart; sons Lance Stewart and wife Pamela and Mike Stewart and wife Kristy; Step mother, Sue McMahan; sister, Gwen Rumbough; brothers, David McMahan and wife Sandra, Larry McMahan, and Phillip McMahan and wife Poniece; grandchildren, Justin and Brittanie. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., with a sharing of memories at 7:00 p.m. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude, Memphis, TN 38105.
