SHIRLEY BLACKBURN MOSSBERG SWANNANOA - Shirley Blackburn Mossberg, age 84, of Swannanoa died Saturday, April 11, 2015 at CarePartners, Asheville. Mrs. Mossberg was born July 21, 1930, in Asheville to the late John Allen and Edith Lipe Blackburn. Shirley was a devoted member of Riverside Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Girls at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Charles Verner Mossberg who died in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Heatherly and five siblings. Surviving are her sons, Andrew Szott and Cass Joe Szott; daughter-in-law, Nancy Heatherly; granddaughter, Christina Creasman; great grandsons, Troy and Zachary Waldroup; and many nieces and nephews. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015, in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, with Reverends John Honeycutt and Steve Hinson officiating. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider Riverside Baptist Church, Bldg. Fund, 871 Riverside Drive, Asheville, NC 28804.
