Shirley Christine Shelton Brown

WOODFIN—Shirley Christine Shelton Brown, 74, of Jonestown Rd., died Monday, May 9, 2011. Mrs. Brown was born March 20, 1937, in Buncombe County. She was a loving caregiver to her parents and her family. She was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church. Shirley was a daughter of the late Paul M. and Nellie Wyatt Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bud Shelton and Randall Shelton, and sisters, Valda Treadway and Betty Edwards. Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Wayne Brown; sons, Rick Luther and wife Pam, and Wayne M. "Charlie" Brown, Jr., and wife Becky; brothers, Troy Shelton, Bill Shelton, James Shelton, and Jay Shelton; grandchildren, Amanda Luther, Olivia Duval, Ashley Hensley, and Dakota Brown; and great grandchildren, Cameron Duval and Adam Duval. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating.
