Sidney Kaye Tweed

Sidney Kaye Tweed, age 77 of Boiling Springs, formerly of Weaverville was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Mrs. Tweed was born July 31, 1937 in Yancey County to the late Louis Shuford and Elsie Silvers Shuford. She and her husband, R.L. owned and operated R.L. Tweed Builders in WNC for 38 years. A former member of Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, Sidney was a current member of Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Tweed who died in 2009 and her brother, Jerry Shuford. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Tweed Cunningham; grandson, Justin Cunningham; brothers, John Shuford and wife Faye of North Augusta, SC and Doug Shuford and wife Doris of Hendersonville and sister-in-law, Myrna Shuford of TN. The celebration of her home going will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Chapel of Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville with Reverend Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. She will be placed in the church one hour prior to her funeral.
