WEAVERVILLE—Thomas Stephen Burnette, age 63, of Weaverville went to rejoice with the Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
Steve was born July 2, 1949, in Buncombe County. He worked currently as payroll clerk for the NCDOT Western Counties and formerly as purchasing agent for Cheney Bigelow for 25 years. He was a member and dedicated former deacon of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Virginia Wilson Burnette; sister, Judy Warren; and his father-in law, Parris Lunsford.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Cynthia Lunsford Burnette; daughter, Tena Gentry and husband David; grandchildren, Stephanie Vernon, Alicia Gentry, Dave Gentry, and Bradley Gentry; brothers, D.L. Burnette and wife Harriet, and Jerry L. Burnette and wife Janet; three great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Evelyn Lunsford; sister-in-law, Connie Sewell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His Celebration service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Rhinehart, Rev. DeLain Whittemore, and Rev. Bobby Leighton officiating. Burial will be in Penland Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends following the service.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Flowers should be delivered to the church on Thursday.
