STEVE GRIFFIN WEAVERVILLE - Steve Griffin, age 68, of 2 Crandon Court went to be with the Lord Monday, October 6, 2014. Steve was born August 21, 1946 in Buncombe County to the late Ed and Maude Flynn Griffin. He served as a demolition specialist in the Army National Guard for 8 years in McCormick, SC. Steve was living in Thomson, GA and working at McDuffie County Hospital when he met his wife. He had been a medical tech for his entire career, he retired from the Charles George V.A. Medical Center and continued to work part time at Mars Hill Medical Center. He was a member of Weaverville United Methodist Church. He loved living in the mountains of Western NC and had a love for history and sharing those stories with his grandsons. He loved snow skiing, hiking and making memories with his family. He had a love for his 1969 Camaro that he restored, a love for all animals especially his grand-dogs JJ and Bailey. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Alice Osborne Griffin; daughter, Torri Bowman and husband Danny of Weaverville; sons, Steve Edwin Griffin of Asheville and Mike Erick Griffin of Weaverville; sister, Linda Griffin of Asheville; three grandsons, Avery Daniel Bowman, Trevor George Bowman and Gavin Griffin Bowman. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014, in the Chapel of Trinity Baptist Church, with Reverend Allen Rash officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
