Steve George Harris

BARNARDSVILLE – “Steve” George Harris, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Emerald Ridge Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. Harris was born on October 4, 1952, in Buncombe County where he had lived for most of his life. Steve worked as an electrician then moved into the carpentry industry. He was also a farmer taking care of the dairy and cattle on the 50 acre family farm. He constructed the home he and his family shared and was talented at building furniture. He volunteered when possible at Habitat for Humanity through the church where he was a member, Northpoint Baptist Church. He also liked watching football and took care of several rental properties.

He was the son of the late George and Velma Mundy Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kevil Harris; sons, Stephen Kendal Harris, and Kevil George-Roy Harris; sister, Judy Harris Carson and husband, Steve; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kevil; niece, Tina Carson McBee; and nephew, Charlie Carson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Johnny Byrd of Northpoint Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Chapel of West Funeral Home.
