Stokley "Delane" Evans

WEAVERVILLE – Stokley “Delane” Evans, age 81, of Weaverville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Mr. Evans was born on November 13, 1943, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. Delane was always jovial, very kindhearted and loved animals. He always had a smile and was lighthearted. He will be remembered for his friendliness.

He was the son of the late Stokley and Mary Lou Head Evans. He was also preceded in death by brother, Donald Ray Evans and his wife Joyce, and Walter Douglas Evans; special uncle, Lee Evans; sisters-in-law, Wanda Arrington, Linda Reavis, and Mary Jo Smith; and brother-in-law, Junior Buckner.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Buckner Evans; daughter, Kristy Norton and husband Stephen; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jo Buckner, and LaTona Wetzler; brothers-in-law, Earl Arrington, Weldon Reavis, and Howell Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Locust Grove Baptist Church, 305 Locust Grove Road, Weaverville with the Rev. Brian Hanrahan and Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, before the service at the church.
