SYLVIA "PEARL" PIKE WEAVERVILLE - Sylvia "Pearl" Pike, age 91 died Sunday, August 9, 2015. Mrs. Pike was born December 24, 1923 and was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, living in the Jupiter community for most of her life. Sylvia lived life to the fullest. She loved and enjoyed her independence, friends and family. She retired from Square D and was a faithful member of Woodland Hill Church where she enjoyed her Sunday school class. Preceding her in death are her parents, Grady and Nona Gowan Woodson; and husband Harry Jack Pike who died August 14, 1976. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Fox and husband Arnold, Teresa Hayes and husband Kenneth; sons, Jackie Pike, Michael Pike and wife Sheila; brother, Jack Woodson; grandchildren, Cris Harris, Jeff Fox, Nick and Kasey Hayes, Brian and Lana Pike, Justin and Jared Pike; great grandchildren, Kayla, Ayden, Austin, Clare, Ellen, Sydney and Alexis; several nieces and nephews including Bruce, Karen and Joyce who were as close to her as her children. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Wesley Pike and Pat Hand officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at her residence. Flowers are welcome.
