WEAVERVILLE/ILLINOIS—Taylor D. Shepherd, age 76, of Dekalb, Ill., formerly of Weaverville, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
Mr. Shepherd was born February 24, 1935, in Buncombe County and was a resident of Illinois for most of his life. He retired from Lyon Metal in Aurora, Ill., after 30 years of service. He was a member of Moose Lodge 781 in Asheville for over 50 years. He was a son of the late Floyd Shepherd and Pansy Lee Maney Shepherd. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Paul Taylor Shepherd, age 2; brothers, James, Kenneth, Blackwell, and Mitchell.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann; daughters, Patricia McGray and husband Jeff of Somonauk, Ill., Terri Bruner and husband Jack of Sandwich, Ill., Lori Sanders and husband Max of Scottsbluff, Neb.; sisters, Phena Shepherd Howie of Thompson, Ga., and Matilda Mae Shepherd Mundy and husband John of Hendersonville; brothers, Rev. Roy Shepherd and wife Ruby, Jack Shepherd and wife Kaye, all of Weaverville, and Walter Shepherd and wife Retha of Warren, Mich.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Billy Murray officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
