ASHEVILLE—Thelma Lois Pressley Honeycutt, age 83, of Asheville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Mrs. Honeycutt was born July 7, 1928 in Henderson Co. to the late Ernest F. Pressley and Dorothy A. Presley Pressley. Mrs. Honeycutt was a member of Inanda Baptist Church since 1957 where she had previously taught the Beginners Sunday School Class for 28 years. She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, filling hundreds of jars each summer. She had a great love for her church family, reading, flowers and birds. She always said that she was blessed with four daughters AND four sons, that she didn't have sons-in-law. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and never failed to tell everyone how proud she was of them. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Donnie Brown, Connie Kelly, Clara Gardner, Frances Westover, Lonnie, Grover, R.B. and Ernest "Pete" Pressley.
Surviving are the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Walter Ervin Honeycutt, who affectionately called her "Mama," even though she was known to her girls as Mother; daughters, Cheryl Brown and husband Roger, Janet Solesbee and husband Carl, Gwenda Angel and husband Wesley, and Lisa DeBruhl and husband DeLaine; grandchildren, Travis and Grant Brown, Seth and Leah Solesbee, Amber Angel Hunley and husband Lawson, Colleen Angel Warren and husband Charlie, and Hunter and Benjamin DeBruhl; two great grandsons, Eli Hunley and Colby Warren; and sister, Helen Solt.
The funeral service for Mrs. Honeycutt will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, April 5, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Terry House officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
